Kuala Lumpur, December 30, 2009 - The Naza Group, the official distributor of Kia and Peugeot vehicles in Malaysia, is targeting to sell 25,970 units next year.

“2010 will be an exciting year for the Naza Group. We will be launching several Kia and Peugeot models that will appeal to all segments of the market.

“Additionally, the domestic economy is expected to return to growth in 2010, which will be an added boost to our business and the overall automotive industry,” said SM Nasarudin SM Nasimuddin, Joint Executive Chairman of the Naza Group.

The group’s sales target of 25,970 units for next year is expected to comprise 22,000 Kia vehicles, 2,930 Peugeot vehicles and 1,040 units of the Forza.

For the Kia brand in 2010, the Naza Group is aiming to launch four new models which will include a recreational vehicle in the first half of the year.

These new models, along with the Forte, which was launched in late November this year, are expected to propel the Kia brand to new heights next year.

“The overwhelming demand we’ve already received for the Forte since its launch is a good indication of where the Kia brand is headed in the coming 12 months.

“The Forte is an example of Kia’s commitment to producing youthful and dynamic cars with premium quality and this will be further evident in the four new models we intend to launch next year,” SM Nasarudin said.

As for the Peugeot brand, which won several local awards this year, the Naza Group will launch four new models in 2010 including an entry-level model, codenamed T33; will be produced at the group’s plant in Gurun.

“When we took over the Peugeot franchise in January 2008, we promised to make the Peugeot brand a success in Malaysia and the eight awards we won this year, including two Overall Car of the Year awards, is a testament to our efforts.

“But we aren’t resting on our laurels just yet. We have an exciting year ahead with four new models to be launched,” SM Nasarudin said.

On the export front, the Naza Group expects demand for its Kia and Peugeot vehicles in markets such as Indonesia and Thailand to increase. At present, the group exports the Picanto and the Pregio van to Indonesia and the Peugeot 308 and 407 models to Thailand.

Going forward, the group intends to expand its range of Kia vehicles being exported to Indonesia while it has plans to export the T33 model to the major markets in Asean once the car is commercially launched in the second half of 2010.
