Lowest Cost Car to Run

The 2006 Kia Rio hatch had the lowest running cost of all cars reviewed in an annual survey of vehicle operating costs by Australia’s seven state-based motoring clubs. The survey calculations were based on a five-year/75,000km ownership period and took into account standing costs including depreciation, loan interest costs, vehicle registration costs, licensing and insurance. The surveys also considered operating costs such as fuel, tyres and servicing.
